Yes, We Have Regional Transportation!

1/20/12 - I took the Cascade Transit East to work from La Pine. The driver, Midge Matthews, got us all to Bend safely without incident on very icy roads. I was picked up at Wickiup Junction. The round trip will cost me just $6.25.

I was surprised to hear aboout the size of the La Pine Service area. Most folks can be picked up at their doorstep with a quick call the day before to assure your ride. Call (541) 385-8680.

Vision:
Deschutes County is a great place to live, work and play. As a County Commissioner, I will work hard to ensure that we have living wage jobs that empower residents to thrive here for generations to come.

Jobs & Economic Growth
Deschutes County needs to have a culture and a climate known for being open to diverse economic opportunities. We must strive to partner with organizations like the local Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO), and the Deschutes Economic Alliance to attract new jobs and businesses. An inviting atmosphere for small business is what is going to bring Deschutes County out of having some of the highest unemployment and foreclosure rates in the State of Oregon.

Fiscal Responsibility
County Officials need to earn the trust and confidence of Deschutes County taxpayers. A balanced budget must always be the goal. We need to save and reserve money in good times and tighten our belt in lean times. I pledge to work with my fellow commissioners and the citizens of Deschutes County to hold the line on County Government spending and expansion.
Together we can find ways to become more efficient, thereby reducing taxes and fees.

Private Property Rights
The State of Oregon has many land use regulations, many of which limit our opportunities to make a living, create wealth or to enjoy our rural lifestyle. I pledge to fight for our land use rights and ensure everyone is treated on a fair and consistent basis.
